Usually in American movies they do many takes till they get it right I think the atmosphere of the American movie has more energy Although some would like were the girl takes off her panties in the French one., I will not say more you'll have to watch it. Also the other characters to me are more real, But maybe because I'm an American And also because I saw The English-American version(Brick Mansions ) first and I've always like Paul Walker in all his movies Along with The fact (for me) his partner looked better (Belle) his hair made him looked better, Again this is some of the detail that is put into American movies I have all the respect to any of you who feel differentyour entitled to your opinion just like anyone else
I really tried to watch this without comparing it to District 13 I also tend to like remakes and not compare them to the original and can usually judge them on their own merit. But for some reason I just could not do this for this film, it was identical in nearly every way to the original, even down to some of the lines. soa separate film, I enjoyed it, plenty of famous names, a good story and a fair bit of action, I will give it a generous 5 based on it not being compared to D13 but I am really trying to pretend I haven't seen district 13 at this point so really maybe in comparison it scores a 3.5. should you watch it? If you have seen D13 then NO you will be very very disappointed If you haven't seen D13 the watch this and enjoy it for its own merit then go and watch D13 and enjoy that even more. Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle work so well together in D13 that anyone else is just a poor comparison.
The movie contributes nothing new to the genre, but disbelief is suspended willingly enough once the action gets up to speed.
Both versions differ severely. For instance, the Extended Cut contains an entirely new soundtrack, David Belle has a different voice - at least that is the case in the English audio track - but he always has a French accent. A lot of the single scenes are recut and often have an alternate order. Some story details are altered,well. And of course, violence is added to the Extended Cut which was probably removed from the Theatrical Version in order to get the PG-13 rating.
